Ever Got a Red Light Ticket in California?
November 13, 2007
If only we were all pop legends like Britney Spears. Apparently she ran a red light the week of November 6th, 2007 and it was caught by the Paparazzi on video tape. However, she will not have to face prosecution and will not be receiving a red light ticket. The video clearly shows the infraction while she held a cell phone and had her two small boys in the back seat while she was driving on Coldwater Canyon in Los Angeles.
Her ex-husband Kevin Federline or K-Fed's attorney wasted no time in requesting a copy of the video tape of the incident in efforts to present the tape to the judge of their on-going court battles. The lawyer wanted to make a final plea to have Brittany banned from transporting their boys.
The Los Angeles Police Department decided not to prosecute Spears because,
"We can't just go by someone's (video) tape. "We have to
witness it, unless it's an intersection with cameras that automatically
take pictures of people running red lights, and then something gets mailed
to the registered owner."
Some suggest that she actually got away with it because there was not a
signed posted that said “Photo Enforced” and you have to sympathize
with Britney a little considering she was completely surrounded by camera
blinding Paparazzi. It is surprising that there has only been one
other traffic violation on tape. You may recall when she was caught
on tape for having her son sitting on her lap.
So a live footage gets her off and she avoids getting a red light ticket. It is too bad that intersection didn’t have camera! Then the sign would have been posted. It is absolutely absurd that a snapshot will get you a red light ticket but live footage doesn’t. You have to hand it to the LAPD.
