Speeding Ticket Fines in California Can Be Dismissed

How about the occurrences of tickets?  Let’s face it, speeding ticket fines in California are expensive, but we wondered what the fines are in comparison to the rest of the country.  Is California really that high? And what about the number of tickets issued? Is California notorious for issuing more tickets than other states?  It is a common conception that California tickets are the highest in the nation with the exception of perhaps New York.  It is also common to think that California has the most speed traps.

We were interested to find that Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York were the states that issued the most speeding tickets nationally—not California. We wanted to investigate this further for your benefit.
Let’s start with California.  It is not unusual for speeding tickets to run $300 or more in California.
In New York State the violator has no idea of the specific fine imposed until after they see the magistrate in court.  That’s tough because it is hard to make a decision as to whether to pay the fine, go to traffic school or try and fight it without knowing the fines involved.

Believe it or not Connecticut has some of the highest fines for speeding tickets. Plus, the cops there are diligent.  In one Memorial Day weekend in 2001 they issued over 2,052 speeding tickets at an average cost of $250.  Avoid speeding ticket fines in this US state!

Let’s talk Florida… Waldo, Florida, a notorious speeding trap on Hwy 301 between Tampa and Jacksonville gets close to 33.5% of its income from traffic tickets.  This information comes to us from a Division Manager for triple A in Miami, Shir Lee Cox. And, then there is Lawtey, Florida which generates close to 68.2% of its revenue through speeding ticket fines.  Due to this information Triple A suggests that members use alternate routes.

And then there is Texas.  In Texas, the speeding ticket issuance got so bad that in 1995, a law was set in place that limits how much a small town can charge and collect on speeding tickets.  In Texas, towns’ with a population of less than 5,000 folks were the worst ticketers in the state.  The law now limits the fines in these towns to 30% of the town’s budget.  Anything above that goes to the state of Texas.

With all these facts in mind, the moral is not to speed! And are California speeding ticket fines higher and are there more occurrences than other states?  We will let you decide.  The good news is that if you received a speeding or traffic ticket in California you have an ally.  Ticket Busters, at TicketBust.com can help you get that ticket reduced or even dismissed.  Call us today to find out how.
