A Different Perspective on Fighting Traffic Tickets

A 35 year old, licensed Caucasian male driver in Southern California had the following to say about fighting traffic tickets.  Do you agree or disagree with his position? 

“Now why would a cop pull you over to begin with?  You are making good time and you are not hurting anyone.  Sure you might be going a little faster than the speeding limit but hey, if nobody is in your way, why should they care.

I like to get to where I’m going and getting  there as soon as I can, not waiting to get there for no reason at all except some silly speeding law that most people don’t follow anyway.  If my speedometer reads 110 mph I should be able to go 110mph. Why make and sell cars that go that fast if it is against the law??

Fighting a traffic ticket?  Why should I even have to fight a traffic ticket?  I mean there are other things in this world that are much more wrong that cops should be paying attention too.  I mean it’s not like I’m damaging property or hurting children or robbing anyone.  I’m simply driving at a speed which is comfortable for me.  Why should I be monitored for driving at a speed comfortable with me?  I know when I am driving too fast for my car and I slow down.  I don’t need a law telling me when I am going too fast.  I know when I am going too fast and I slow down.

There is nothing wrong with speeding.  I shouldn’t have to be spending my time fighting a traffic ticket!  Fighting traffic tickets is just another way for the government to use our money for their purposes.  We can’t speed unless we have a government job that allows us to. Heck if I find myself fighting a traffic ticket,  I’m gonna go to radio shack and get red and blue lights to put on top of my car so I CAN SPEED TOO.  Then I’m gonna go to start fighting my traffic tickets. It’s only fair! 

Great, the idea of fighting a traffic ticket means that I have to take time off work (if I had a job…I mean maybe I was running late to try and get to a job interview so I would have a job).  And if I go trying to fight my traffic ticket and I lose, then I have to pay for school to keep my insurance down, so I can keep driving to get a job to pay for the darn ticket.”
